First for the blurb…

Karl Patterson and seven other SEAL Team Six men are deployed to Paris to raid a Le Marais duplex believed to be a terrorist hideout. Finding it abandoned and rigged with explosives, the sailors barely escape. After they return to their hotel anticipating a night of rest and awake to an explosion and raging inferno, Karl and his teammates realize they are one step behind the Red Queen. Not only is she still alive; she’s also hell-bent on vengeance and plans to unleash terror the city won’t soon forget.

Journalist Jamie Phillips awakes to the sound of an explosion and rushes to the window in time to see the perpetrators fleeing from the blackened skeleton of their van. Rushing to escape engulfing flames, she nearly succumbs to the overpowering smoke and falling debris, but is suddenly rescued by a drop-dead gorgeous man she suspects is Special Forces.

Attraction between Karl and Jamie burns hotter than the flames consuming the du Luxembourg hotel. Karl struggles to wipe Jamie from his mind and refocus on the Team’s mission. But heading to the hospital and forgetting Karl aren’t part of Jamie’s plan. Thanks to her keen journalist observational skills, she picked up on key information that just might help SEAL Team Six stop the terrorists.

And now (drum roll please)… Today’s post

Karl Patterson has recently rescued Jamie Phillips from a raging inferno that erupted in a Paris hotel. Jamie is about to tell him what she witnessed from her hotel room window just after the fire broke out.

Karl vaulted up into the back of the ambulance and knelt beside Jamie, confronting her wild, unfocused eyes. When a coughing fit assaulted her, he instinctively reached for her hand. “Hi, Jamie. Are you okay? Do you need a glass of water?”

She shook her head, blinked and then her brilliant, blue-green eyes widened with oh, it’s you recognition. “Oh, good, you’re here.”

He waited for the doors to shut behind him before continuing. “The EMTs said you wanted to talk to me. I’m here to listen to whatever you have to say.”

She jerked her hand free and tried to push herself up into a seated position.

He gripped her shoulders and gently tried to push her back down on the stretcher. His breath caught in his throat as an undercurrent of sexual awareness ripped through him. Their faces were close enough he could have counted every beautiful freckle on her face.

Too close.

He longed to trace a finger along some of the freckles on her cheek and around the delicate outline of her pointed chin. Karl’s heart rate accelerated and he drew in a long breath to regain his focus. “No, please. You need to rest. You don’t have to sit up for me to hear you.”

Her mouth quirked in a puzzled expression, but she allowed her weight to fall back down on the stretcher. “Okay, Karl. But you have to listen to me.” Yellow flecks burned in the depths of her blue-green eyes. “I want those terrorists brought to justice. They’re filthy murderers.”
